No serial number on Strat
by: C J

I have a Strat that is supposed to be Japanese, it does have a serial number but it is on the back of the headstock. It doesn't say "Made in Japan" or "Crafted in Japan" anywhere on the instrument.
It does however have the Fender logo on it.

I also have strat without serial number
by: Mark

Mine is a used apparently Japanese model, gold sparkle finish and maple fretboard. It looks like a 57 reissue except it has an american standard or deluxe strat bridge, no tremelo cover plate on the back and no screw holes for one, and sopposedly it has seymour duncan pups. I'm thinking maybe its a 57 vintage reissue limited edition. It has pups with staggered pole pieces, and old spaghetti style headstock logo, a single american deluxe string tree, slotted vintage style tuners, a single ply mint pickguard and aged plastic parts, all gold hardware. There is no serial number and no "Made In ..." anywhere.Anyone have any idea what model of japanese fender strat this is?

Re Strat w/no serial #
by: Dan Rowland

There are a lot of 'strat' type guitars out there...if it has no
serial # on the headstock, take it to someone who works
on guitars...the best luthier you can find. He will probably
have to take the neck off to see if there are numbers
where the neck meets the body....that's really the only
way to get info on this kind of guitar. Sometimes, that
won't even help..but it is your best bet.

Don't try this yourself unless you really know what you
are doing...you could wreck a nice instrument.
