Fender JP-90

Hi, I have a Fender FP-90, early 1990's I think, serial #N 010322. The guitar is rough, although it is all there, but would need to be refurbished. Can you give me an idea if this is even collectible or worth anything. Thanks, Crystal :)
ANSWER
Hi, Crystal--
The serial number indicates that your guitar was made at the Corona Plant (Fender), USA
in the Year(s): 1990 - 1991
The guitar is actually a JP-90, not a JF-90. The "JP" stands for Jazz Precision and was so named because it had one jazz pickup and one precision pickup.
Here is the Blue Book info and pricing:
JP-90 (NO. 014-4100)
- offset double cutaway asymmetrical poplar body, bolt-on maple neck, 20-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlay, four-on-one-side tuners, fixed bridge, black pickguard, P/J-style pickups, two knobs (v, tone), three-position switch, chrome hardware, available in Arctic White, Black, or Torino Red finish, mfg. 1990-94.
Mint $550
Exc.+ $475
Exc. $400
Avg.+ $350
Avg. $300
General $250
As you can see, the value of the guitar in mint condition is not a great deal. To be of value as a collectors item, a guitar must be ORIGINAL, not refurbished. It would be of more value left as is than if you had work done to restore it.
If you just want to play it and if you like the guitar, go ahead and have it made playable. A lot of players like these basses because they are lighter than either a jazz or precision bass.
Hope this helps!
