Fender Balboa

Cant find a lot of info on this guitar. all i know it is excellent condition and the serial # 910093

ANSWER

Hi, Bob--

I could not determine the exact date of manufacture from the serial number. The guitar is, however, listed in the Blue Book:

BALBOA
- single cutaway style, solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides, original Fender electronics, Natural finish, mfg. 1983-87.

These Guitars were manufactured in Japan originally in 1980. From 1980 - 1983 they had Rosewood Sides and Back. When they where marketed to USA they were part of the California series and change them to have Mahogany back and sides. They had originally cut blanks out of Rosewood and the factory had a fire and the fire /water damaged the blanks so they used mahogony
