by Steve
(FT. Worth, TX USA)

I have this guitar with s.n. 002161 I've looked and see where the sites say it's a 1967 It looks the same as a 1964 with the bar and everything. Can you give me any details on this, Price, where made. Thanks. Steve

ANSWER

Hi, Steve--

The Serial number does come up as 1967. Epiphone guitars were manufactured in Kalamazoo, MI from 1958 to 1969.

Here is the Blue Book general info:

CORONET (U.S. MFG.)
- symmetrical dual cutaway body, bass bout slightly longer than treble, glue-in neck, dot fingerboard inlay, bridge/tailpiece combination, metal peghead logo plate, one New York pickup, large white pickguard, 2 knobs, available in Cherry, Black, Silver Fox, Sunset Yellow, California Coral, or Pacific Blue finishes, mfg. 1958-1970.

The pricing info:

1965-1970
Mint $2,500
Exc.+ $2,100
Exc. $1,750
Avg.+ $1,450
Avg. $1,200
General $1,000

Add 10-20% for Custom Colors including California Coral, Pacific Blue, Silver Fox, or Sunset Yellow.

**The vibrato tailpiece was discontinued in 1966, so if your has one, it may have been made in 1966 and not released until 1967.
