Drumming Injuries

by Craig Mitchell

I am a left handed drummer but I play on a right handed set. After playing a gig my inner right thigh becomes bruised. Is there any remedy out there for that?
Thank you for your time.

ANSWER

Hi, Craig--

I am wondering why you don't just switch the set over to a left handed configuration. It really involves very little effort and time. The only special equipment you would need would be if you use a double bass pedal.

In any case, I doubt that the cause of your bruises is the right handed set up. The only way you could be getting bruises is from your right leg hitting the snare drum. Just move the snare drum over a bit to the left and that should free your leg from the beating it takes.
