I'm left handed and starting lessons. is it practical to learn with the snare and high hat reversed to play left handed? it feels more comfortable this way. are there draw backs?

ANSWER

Hi, Jeff--

You can reverse your setup if it is more comfortable for you. You will need to rearrange the toms so that the smallest one is on the left and the floor tom is on the left. You may also need to get a special double bass pedal setup when the time comes.

The only drawback that I can think of is that you will not be easily able to sit in on another drummer's set.

By the way, when you are ready to play songs, you will want to check out our Almost Free Drum Tabs?
