Controlling Drum Volume While Playing Live

Hi I was wondering if when your mic your drums does that mean u can just turn the volume down on the mixing board and then u can hit harder and not worry about drowning out the rest of the band?

so the drum natural loudness wont have effect on it?

ANSWER

It depends, of course, on the venue. If you are playing in a very small place, then the natural sound of the drums may still overpower the band.
