Conn F27

by Ron McClintic
(Brooklyn Park, MN. US)

We need a value for a private purchase, but neither of us knows a fair value. The guitar is a 12 string acoustic, no electronics made in the 1970's, in Japan by Conn-Selmer. They quit making them long ago and no music store we can find in Minneapolis area is able to help.

ANSWER

Hi, Ron-

Here is the Blue Book pricing:

F-27
Excellent $150 - 200
Average $95 - 120

Don't sell it that cheap
by: Anonymous

I have a F27 six string I bought new in 1979 for $350.00. If I were to buy a new guitar that has the same quality as mine I would have to pay $1,500.00 minimum. Your guitar is a TOP OF THE LINE model from Conn.

Conn F2712 Value
by: Dave in Kansas

I bought a new Conn F2712 guitar in 1975 or 1976. At that time, I paid around $700 for that guitar with a hardshell case. I have since learned that the Conn F27 (the 6-string version) was modeled after the Martin D35 guitar. If you compare pictures, you will note the similarity in woods used and design (e.g., 3 piece Rosewood back). I have seen Conn F2712 guitars sell on ebay for around $300 but I feel they are worth more than that when you compare the sound and playability to other guitars but there just isn't much demand for them. In the past four years, I have also purchased two Conn F27 guitars because I love the sound and the quality. I think they are hidden gems.

Blue book price challenge
by: Anonymous

I don't know if you still have that guitar but i hope to God you didnt sell it for the blue book price you were given there. I also own a Conn F27 but mine is a six string, and if yours has held up anything like mine, then it is worth much more than that. That blue book price is lower than what the guitar probably cost in the 70's and doesnt take into account the value that guitars gain as they hit a certain age. I am certain you could sell it for much more than that
