Can you change the heads on rotary toms?????

by Ryan
(Penacook,New Hampshire, United States)

Are they meant to be the clear heads. Or will they sound better if you buy new heads for them? Please help me.

ANSWER

Hi, Ryan--

YES!! You can put different heads on your rotary toms. The factory heads are usually low-end heads that don't sound very good and will probably break very soon.

You can use any kind of heads that you want, provided they are the right size. I have published a discussion of different head types here: Heads For Rotary Toms. The discussion is about the Evans brand because the visitor asked about that brand, but the general types of heads are about the same with all brands.

Good luck--you will love the new sound, I am sure.

Lynne
