Can I Put Steel Strings on a Classical Guitar?
by Fabrizio
(Italy)
I learned a bit to play on acoustic guitar. I always found however, difficult to get chords like "A" or "C" or "B" because the right space for them is too small for my fingers.
I bought a classical one and it's much better but the sound is too low.
What could i do?
Could i put on steel strings on the classic without breaking it? Or whatever?
Thank you a lot.
Fabrizio.
ANSWER
Hi, Fabrizio--
NEVER put steel strings on a classical guitar. The neck is not made to withstand the pressure of steel strings.
The classical guitar sound is more mellow and is actually quite beautiful. You may learn to enjoy it after a while.
If you still want to acoustic sound, there are guitars with wider necks.
