Bass Guitar Notes--What is A 7TH?
I am new to playing the bass guitar. I play individual notes and not chords. Can you tell me if there such things as "7th" notes on a bass (G7, A7, E7, etc.)or are they the same as the major note. If there are "7TH" notes, please tell me where they are on the fret; example "G7". I don't mean to sound so stupid. I'm just trying to learn. Thanks for your help!
Tim
ANSWER
Hi, Tim--
The 7ths that you are wondering about are chords, not notes--Specifically they are dominant 7th chords that function as a V chord in a chord progression.
The "7" means that the flatted seventh in the major scale has been added to the major chord.
