Asturias AST 60
by Michael
(Germany, Mainz)
I would like to find some details on my Asturias AST 60. I bought it from a friend ca. 1982.
My findings sofar: - Made in Japan - Ser. No. 06738 - Signature from W. Joric (? I can not decrypt the signature completely)
- Solid Cedar Top - Rosewood Back and Sides
Gets good critics in the internet, like - bargain for the sound, build, playability, and more importantly endurance - If you want a very very good quality classical for cheap money, this is it!
I can support this and would actually like it to be not so cheap :-)
I see a price range from 290Eur until 950USD which is fairly wide.
Perhaps we can narrow it down.
ANSWER
Hi, Michael--
The Blue Book does not list these guitars separately. Here is the general info from the Blue Book:
"Instruments currently built on the island of Kyushu, Japan. Previously distributed in the U.S. market by J.T.G. of Nashville, located in Nashville, TN. Currently, there is no U.S. distributor. The Asturias Workshops in southern Japan employ seventeen people who have worked at Asturias most of their lives or have a family connection. Guided by chief luthier Wataru Tsuji, these luthiers take great care with their production methods to ensure a quality guitar. There are currently several models available."
