aria pro 2 PE-500

by Casey Reed
(Tennessee)

I have spent plenty of time looking for information about this guitar and can't find anything but a picture. i would like to know how much it may be worth.
all that i know about this guitar is it was made in 1978 in japan. no one i know knows anything at all about this guitar even though i have had plenty of money offered for it but i need to know how much it is worth if its worth anything. Please help!

ANSWER

Hi, Casey--

This Model is not listed in the Blue Book, but I was able to find this information:

"PE-500
Sycamore body, 3-piece birch set neck, rosewood fingerboard, Protomatic II pickups, 1V, 1T, Supermatic bridge, gold HW. Tobacco Sunburst, Cherry Sunburst, Black finishes. Note: This was a production model, and stock for the PE series. Catalogs are not mass-printed for non-production guitars. It is not a $1500 guitar, one third this at best. Manufactured 1978-79."

Hope this is of some help.

Lynne

I bought mine new in 1978 at Guitar works in Richmond Va $299. I had it for 10 years before I sold it for $150. It was still in great condition but the cord plugs in the face of the body and cracked about an inch and a half from stepping on the cord. The guitar played very well but I could never get the intonation exact. I never thought it would be a guitar of any worth for playing or collecting so I let it go. The guitar was know as a semi-hollow because the top was raised up 1/2 in from the body and you can see it when you pull a pickup out. I played the hell out of it but never thought it was near the calibre of Gibson. Aria made cheap guitars period.I bought it because I couldn't afford a real guitar.

These are very nice but do not have a set neck as the later PE versions do. They bring around $500 when you can find one. They are very rare.
