Aria Model 9610 Hummingbird

by Jim
(Virginia)

I bought this guitar secondhand, and I am wondering how much it's worth. I've gotten price ranges anywhere from $400-$600 just through browsing, but I'd like a price range for this guitar. It is an Aria cherryburst hummingbird from the 1970's from Japan (or so I gather).

Inside the guitar, the serial number is A-1, and the model no. is 9610. It also says "made in Japan" for what it's worth. There are almost no cosmetic defects (aside from a few light, barely noticeable scratches on the back). The hummingbird image on the front is flawless. There is only one flaw in the guitar: the bridge is a bit separated from the body, which makes it hard to keep the strings sounding good when plucked, but it looks to be easily fixable. Aside from that, the guitar is in almost perfect condition. It also looks like the parts are all original. Unfortunately, as my camera is on the fritz, I cannot upload a picture. If you would be able to give me any price-range as-is, or even this model in perfect shape, I would be most appreciative.

ANSWER

Hi, Jim--

This guitar is not listed in the Blue Book. I did, however, find one for sale here:

Joe's Vintage Guitars

It is the 16th guitar listed--about halfway down the page. Really a pretty guitar!

Maybe Joe could give you some additional information about your guitar.

Hope this has been of some help to you.

Lynne

I had an aria hummingbird replica
by: Anonymous

It was my first guitar and the best guitar I've ever had. The tone is warm and beautiful and Ive searched for the same quality for years since my brother in law pawned it out from under me. He didn't have a guitar to play and I had another so I felt bad for him and was letting him use it. The bridge had begun to pull up and it would have fret rattle as soon as the strings got old. I still wished I had her back though. What a sweet girl!
