'59 Gibson Les Paul Special
My dad has what we believe is a '58 or '59 Les Paul Special, Double Cutaway, Cherry Red finish, all original. It has a # 8 6305 stamped on the back of the neck. We would like to know the approximate value. Thanks

The Double cutaway was manufactured for only one year--1959.

LES PAUL SPECIAL DOUBLE CUTAWAY (1959) - double rounded cutaway mahogany body, set mahogany neck, 22-fret bound rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays, black headstock overlay with gold Gibson logo and "Les Paul Special" silkscreened in yellow, three-per-side tuners with white oval plastic buttons (tuners are mounted on a closed-back strip), combination bar bridge/tailpiece, five-ply black pickguard, two black plastic covered single coil pickups, four knobs (two v, two tone), nickel hardware, available in Cherry or TV Limed Mahogany finish, 12.75 in. body width, 17.25 in. body length, 1.75 in. body depth, 24.75 in. scale, approx. 1,200 shipped, mfg. 1959 only.
