Like a lot of guitars that are not Fender or Gibson, greatly undervalued in every respect. A brilliantly comfortable pro level instrument. I would never sell mine its just too good to part with. If you can find a good example buy it. Mine is a S300A and sound wonderful. Best sounding / playing guitar I own.

I have a 1977 and I've had nothing but good times with the guitar. No matter what shitty strings I get on accident, the guitar will like adapt and learn to fit the way those strings play out. Mine would be worth a lot but my father stripped it of the original ivory paint and made it all wood finished so because of that and new tuners, its value is lower. But i dont care I wouldnt sell this guitar....in face I would buy another one as a project, just tweak it, add and take away different things. make it just one pickup idk. too bad im broookkkeeeee

rare find by: ertle
i recieved this guitar on 8/25/10. It came in a hard shell case. I did my homework before it arrived with its owner. These were quite expensive when guild made these in the late seventies ;going for around 1300 new. Mine is a dark cherry with a clear coat over it. Neck threw which gives endless sustain;ebony fretboard ; black pickguard; pearl dot inlay;tune o matic bridge;fixed tailpiece;black face peghead with chesterfield;logo inlay;3per side tuners which are chrome; two volume two tone controls and a 3 position toggle switch when in the center becomes a out of phase switch . They were way ahead of thier time with this .Tho humbuckers ;thats what the d stands for in the naming of the guitar s300-d ;the d stands for dimarzio. The neck ia a paf and the bridge is a super distortion.Exellent pairing. The paf is warm and great for rythem or leads the second position combines both and with the phase switch you can get some unique sounds last but not least is the bridge pickup a dimarzio super distortion. Even with high gain every note is articulated ; The sustain is amazing. I have ernie ball 10;s on it which gives the neck just enough relief and also allows you to really get the action nice and low with no fret buzz. This guitar came in black white or red they were manufactured in the good old usa from 1977 to 1982 for this model . This is a keeper . You don;t see these around very often. I;m sure the after market price will adjust once word really gets out about the quality from head to toe and the great playability of the neck will make any guitarist happy. If this had prs on the headstock it would be a 5000 dollar guitar and collectors dream. I feel the vintage market has lost some steam. People are tired of paying ludicres prices for once truely inexpensive guitars but in this case its worth every penny of its original value.I can;t explain the neck radius except i have small hands and i move effortlessly up and down this neck.Frets are medium . Back then i don;t think they offered much. overall. Great guitar with guild you get prosission ;quality parts and a guitar which will last forever. I hope this helps anyone who was looking for some info on these their tough to find and rarer to find a seller. Its in a league of its own . Its not a les paul and its not a strat but it will bring the house down toneally . If you can find one in good shape i would definitely buy it.

Guild S300d by: mike Jam Big World
I have a mahogany model 1978 in decent condition. Just got it back she was my first electric and I scored my Fender 75 tube amp back with a black widow speaker what a beast! The guitar plays well and the 24 fret though small frets makes some intersting high notes. Though I pretty much play my 1980 Les Paul the Guild is lighter and a little less twangy than my Rick Cheers, Mike
