1971 Les Paul Professional

by J
(Rochester, NY)

I have a Les Paul Professional guitar. What little I could find about it online is that there seem to have been a total of 118 of these guitars shipped between 1971-1973. The serial # is a 6 digit one. There are some paint chips, no strings on it currently, and the bridge is missing, but the neck is straight and it seems to be in great condition overall. I inherited the guitar and don't know much about them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

ANSWER

Hi, J--

Here is the Blue Book general info:

LES PAUL PROFESSIONAL
- single cutaway bound mahogany body, raised black pickguard, mahogany neck, 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl trapezoid inlay, tune-o-matic bridge/stop tailpiece, blackface peghead with pearl logo inlay, 3-per-side tuners, nickel hardware, 2 low impedance pickups, volume/decade/treble/bass controls, two 3-position switches, phase slide switch, available in Walnut finish, approx. 2,300 mfg. 1969-1979.

Here is the pricing info:

Mint $2,300
Exc.+ $1,850
Exc.$1,550
Avg.+ $1,275
Avg. $1,050
General $875

**From the way you describe it, I would say it fits the "General" category.
