1970's Yamaha FG110e

by Kelly
(Springfield, MA)

Just wondering the value.
great condition

ANSWER

Hi, Kelly--

The FG series is not listed separately in the Blue Book. Here is what the Blue Book says about the FG's:

"These guitars never sold for too much money, and because of this aren´t very collectible today. Most of them are worth between $50-$250 depending on the condition and features."

FG stands for FEELS GOOD!
by: Wingnut

Ok, yes, the FG110E is a bit high-actioned, but not all that bad. It has great sound and it changes personality nicely depending upon types of strings. Holds tuning, tough as rocks, and like the reviews above, you don't mind dragging this guitar around case-less or in a pillow case. I was given one by a friend about 10 years ago, and its just a fine fun guitar. This is a small-body guitar but it has all the punch of a big body, and maybe not so much "ka-shing-a-shing". More of a cowpoke on the dusty trail sound. The truss rod works great... keeps the neck nicely true no matter the string guage. The tuners are firm and smooth, but I do have a tiny problem with the nut (upper bridge) pinching the strings a bit for round wound strings. A little lube or gentle slot-filing where the strings pass thru the nut, and maybe a little less smoking by the owner, and the nut bind problem should be a thing of the past. Its a minor problem and won't keep you off the stage even if left as is. I love my FG... I highly recommend it. I found this review site because I was looking for another one... as a backup for my beloved current one.

FG 110e
by: T James

I bought one about 35 years ago. It and I went to heck and back together. I got me a beautifully finished new acoustic/electric to replace it about 12 years ago and put the fg in the closet w/out the rotted out case. If someone really needed something, I'd have given it to them. I couldn't get 50 bucks for it. Then I got into Clapton and BB King and picked up an Olympic White Strat and a tele. About 3 months ago I started looking at acoustics again. Narrowed it down to Martin or Taylor. Got the money up, then tried a Simon & Patrick and loved it. Went home tonget the money and moved my fg out of the way and tried it really quick. That "try" was it for me. It played every bit as good to me, and it had that beat up old look to boot! It even fell down in the closet 10 years ago and I glue half of head back on that held 3 of tuning keys on it. Let me just say this, ... My Yamaha FG 110e, my Strat, and my Tele are a complete set and, even though in have 3 others, they will remain my 3 Guitars for all my public performances. I just recorded my latest with fg!

YAMAHA FG110E
by: Anonymous

Reviews on Harmony Central show that people really like the sound of their fg110e's. I owned one but found the action to be high and it was difficult to play. I had to put extra light strings on it because the tension on the strings was so tight. The action was high also. The sound of the guitar was exceptional though. I would have kept it and would like to own another if it played smoother. I paid $125 for it. Great sounding guitar and I liked the oo size. Very light weight guitar with a surprisingly loud voice.

I have many guitars but my favorite is the FG. It looks like willie nelsons guitar as far as wear goes. super glue lots of wear but man it aged well and the sound is as good as my other acoustics. I would never sell it - it goes camping, backyard campfires, w/e trips..and it's electric...can't beat the longevity of this guitar...it goes were I would not take my other ones and gives me quality sound.
