Gibson C2 is classical not Flamenco
by: peter

Hi from what I have found the Gibson C2 is not the Gibson FLamenco guitar.
Similar in appearance but the Gibson Flamenco was built between 1963 and 1967.
I had spruce top and Cyprus back and sides, Brazilian rosewood fret board and bridge. It had black binding top/back and also a zero fret.
2009 vintage value in ex. condition low $1600 high $2200.

I think confusion is the C2 which I have seen in some articles describing as similar to the Flamenco. But believe that has to do with size.
I own a Gibson 1965 Flamenco and this is what I have been able to find. Hope this helps.

Valuation
by: Anthony E. Ball

It is academic of course, but it is surprising that a beautiful instrument such as this would hardly appreciate in value after so many years.

-----------------

Hi, Anthony--

The Blue Book values are based on what collectors are paying for a particular guitar. It seems that at this point in time collectors are not particularly interested in this guitar.

This does not mean that the guitar is not valuable or that it is not a beautiful and excellent quality guitar. Unfortunately, the Blue Book is the best source of information available at this time.
