1966 Fender Telecaster Blond or Olympic White?

1966 Fender Telecaster

1966 Fender Telecaster

Hi there,
I have a 1966 Fender Telecaster Blond for sale. I think it's blond, but could be olympic white? How do I tell which one it is. Good condition. All original except the output jack has been moved from the bottom to next to the dials. Serial number 132306. Just wanted to know what I could sell this guitar for? Any information would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Karen

ANSWER

Hi, Karen--

Most likely it is Blonde finish--most of them were
that early on. This This model is referred to as CBS Mfg. because of the sale of Fender Musical Instruments Corp. to the CBS Broadcasting Co. in early 1965.

Here is the Blue Book general info:

TELECASTER (CBS MFG. 1965-1983)
- single cutaway ash body with routing channel between the pickups, bolt-on maple neck, "F" stamp on neckplate, 21-fret maple fingerboard with black dot inlays (1967-1982) or rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlays (1965-69), "Telecaster" logo on headstock with six-on-one-side tuners, STB anchored bridge with three paired-string adj. saddles, white pickguard, two single coil pickups, two knobs (v, tone) and a three-way switch mounted on a metal plate, chrome hardware, available in Blonde finish, mfg. 1965-1982.

The Blue Book pricing is based on ORIGINAL condition, so the jack being moved will detract from the value--by how much is dependent on how important that is to a potential buyer.

The finish looks light it might be damaged a bit, which will also lower the value.

Here is the Blue Book pricing:

1966

Mint $12,000
Exc.+ $9,500
Exc. $7,500
Avg.+ $6,000
Avg. $5,000
General $4,000

The value probably is somewhere in the Average category.
