1964 Epiphone Crestwood Custom
by Bob
(cushing,okla)
My wife's dad has this guitar in his stock of instruments that are the only inheritance they have. We are trying to find a value for it and preparing to sell. It is in good condition with very light checking in the cherry finish. The serial is 29867 but I understand they are a bit misleading. what a good value for it and a good venue for selling?
ANSWER
Hi, Bob--
The serial number comes up as 1961.
Here is the Blue Book General info:
(CRESTWOOD (U.S. MFG.) - double cutaway body, set-in neck, rosewood fingerboard with dot inlay, tune-o-matic bridge, gold hardware, pickguard with stylized ´E´, metal logo peghead plate, twopickups, volume/tone controls, three-way switch, available in Cherry finish, 24.75 in. scale, mfg. 1958-59.)
CRESTWOOD CUSTOM (U.S. MFG.) - similar to the Crestwood, except has two mini humbucker pickups, no pickguard logo, no peghead plate, oval fingerboard inlay, available in California Coral, Cherry, Pacific Blue, Sunburst, Sunset Yellow, or White finish, mfg. 1959-1969.
The pricing info:
1959-1964 Mint $4,500 Exc.+ $3,700 Exc. $3,200 Avg.+ $2,800 Avg. $2,500 General $2,200
The exact price would depend on the degree of damage to the finish.
As far as where to sell it, you could try Craigslist in your area or Ebay.
