1957 00-18 w/OHSC Martin guitar

What is the fair market value for this guitar? With case....
Why are original cases so important for resale guitars?

ANSWER

The Blue book says:

1947-1959
Excellent $3,000 - 3,500
Average $1,900 - 2,200

The original case will add to the basic value of a vintage guitar much like having the original box or packaging will increase the value of any vintage item. Just the added authenticity, I guess.

I have a 1947 000-18 Martin with the original case to the best of my knowledge. My Uncle bought it when he was a boy and I just inherited it. He was a very knowledgeable about everything including making guitars, harps, etc.. He played it very well and also took care of it. It is in very good shape for its age. Looking for a value. I can send pictures to who ever could appraise it. Thanks..
