I'm having problems finding a true value for my grandfather's left handed martin. my question is does it being left handed make it more valuable as i cannot find any that old. thanks
ANSWER
Hi, Justin--
The Blue Book does not list a model 000-28L separately, so I assume that the left-handed configuration do not significantly alter the value.
There were actually two different models in 1947--with herringbone top purfling or with six-ply top inlay with white outer layer. The Blue Book value is quite a bit different between the two models:
1945-1947 Herringbone Excellent $20,000 - 25,000 Average $13,000 - 16,000
1947-1949 Non-Herringbone Excellent $10,000 - 12,500 Average $7,000 - 8,500
Sorry I could not be of more help with the LH configuration issue.
